Welcome to the second CR Meme of Futurology S2! Have fun and be good to each other.



MISSION: DRAKSTADEN PLOTTING

After Mission: Azeria (the test drive meme), characters will have spent a week on Headquarters before receiving the dossier for Mission: Drakstaden. They will have another week to prepare, after which they will be rifted to another universe.

Mission breakdown:

• The first log will go up on 15 April.
  
• The mission is tentatively scheduled to last until mid-June, but this may change depending on character action.
  
• The Bounty Board will be updated once the mission begins.
  
• There will be a locations page up by 15 April.
  
• View the dossier for all ICly-known information about what to expect.
  
• Characters are encouraged to blend in, and will be outfitted with appropriate clothing before their arrival. For characters who cannot pass as human, they will be provided with cloaking devices that will allow all non-Hathaway personnel to view them as natives.
  
• You can ask questions about the mission on the dossier, or ask game-related questions on the FAQ.

▸ PERSONALITY: For being a time-traveling dead Canadian geek from 2015 who had his brain copied and woke up a hundred years later uploaded into a robot zombie body in a monster-infested research facility at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean after the apocalypse that killed everyone on the planet, Simon is pretty chill. He's just a sociable dude who gets on well with most people but has a denial problem so profound that he had to be told he was a robot even after using a flashlight that is inside his face :^) :^) :^)
He has a lot of baggage from both of his existences, lives with an undercurrent of existential sadness about being a copy and no longer human, and if left idle he is like the emotional equivalent of a dog that eats your whole couch when you go to work, but when he has stuff to do he’s pretty adaptable and throws himself into it, and he’s actually pretty good at listening to other people’s problems.

▸ PLANS:Simon might actually get to use his datamining thing in this mission, which is exciting??? He comes from a survival-horror sci-fi nightmare, so sneaking around breaking shit, finding passwords and reading other people’s things is kind of his jam, in general. He’s probably going to end up disappointed that it just so happens to be a lot more complicated in Drakstaden than it was in SOMA, A Video Game.

Also, most of the monsters in his canon are messed-up humans with crude cybernetic augments, so I guess for a little while it’ll just look like he's spooked by poor people.

▸ PERSONALITY: David can come across as quirky, easily distracted, unpredictable and sometimes aggressive. He's ultimately a nice dude, though, and he tries very hard to be chill. He doesn't like violence and would love it if everyone could just get along, but he's also kind of a hypocrite — he gets annoyed easily and can be a little cagey when pushed.
▸ DESIRED CR: Anything!! Positive and negative. Easy pings are anything to do with superpowers/mutants and mental health or family issues. I'd eventually like to get him some pals he can trust to help counterbalance his paranoia, but I'm up for anything. Unless he has reason to distrust someone, David tends to bond quickly and kind of intensely (puppy style, not super creepy style).
▸ OFFERED CR: Idk mutant stuff. Telepathy!! Mostly I can offer well-meaning but very likely awkward CR. David likes people a lot, but he's struggling with a boat load of demons that tend to make social interaction unpredictable.
▸ PLANS: David will be relying on his fancy brain powers to spy on locals for this mission, but he isn't stellar at fitting in or quick thinking. He might also be a little arrogant since he's used to being fairly OP, so a more competent buddy would be helpful!!

▸ PERSONALITY: Sleepy, reserved, and stern. Aizawa looks like he's just rolled out of bed, but also like he didn't really get much rest while he was in there. He has a cold, apathetic affect, but in truth cares deeply for the people around him. He lives by the rule of rationality (so he claims), and only does or says whatever he thinks is absolutely necessary. Despite his washed-up looks, he's a disciplined man with high expectations, both for himself and for anyone he works with.

But he's also really just a big ol' softie.

Otherwise he'll probably be lurking on top of tall buildings & power lines, because that's what anime Batman has to do.

▸ PERSONALITY: Anime-style class president who's a bit of a stickler for the rules, especially the ones that make sure everyone's safe and sound. Iida seems like a serious megane lad, but really, he's just exceptionally genuine in his approach to life and relationships. Because he's a student at U.A.'s heroics department, he's a lot more prone to act and think of things in ways that uphold academia and heroism's core values, so you can expect him to operate obscenely fairly and to give everyone a chance.

▸ DESIRED CR: Disagreements, heavy debates, learning lessons. CR that "fails" one another in a way, by not reaching standards -- and then those standards are adjusted to accept individual hearts and minds and fallacies. I'm a fan of difficult or rocky beginnings, especially due to misunderstandings, that develop into weird companionable "friendships". Or don't develop, and are always mutually antagonistic. Honestly, he's gonna need a partner or two to focus his efforts around, or he's going to be taking on Too Much Too Fast.

▸ OFFERED CR: He protec, he attac! If you need help getting organized, getting your life together, or generally getting lectured by an exuberant zoomlad, look no further. He's going to be working hard to fulfill his role as a sentinel in the upcoming mission by looking after y'all, so if you need someone to keep an eye on your character in any capacity, hmu.

▸ PLANS: The great thing about dystopian cyberpunk world, is that I do not believe that he's going to have to really work to hide his Quirk. The boy literally has engines in his legs. Likely middle-classs cyberware??? I haven't nailed down what his cover will be exactly, but likely it'll be some sort of ferrying/courier service. He'll get anything, anywhere, on time!

▸ PERSONALITY: Shiro is friendly but reserved, slightly formal with people he doesn't know but secretly kind of a goofball. As a former explorer, he's curious about everything the multiverse has to offer, but as a former prisoner of a tyrannical empire and current freedom fighter, he's suppressed a lot of that beneath the pressure of his responsibilities. If you imagine an overworked grad student with unusually good social skills and then put him in the cockpit of a giant robotic lion, you're 90% of the way there.

▸ DESIRED CR:
As one of the newbies, I'm open to pretty much anything, but specifics:
- Shiro's spent a lot of time pretending to be a Level 10 Adult when he only has the exp to be Level 5, so getting him some buddies around whom he doesn't feel he has to be Your Friend Who Is Also Your Team Leader would be truly excellent
- That being said, he's also cute as heck with people in need of some mentoring if that's more your thing
- He will happily talk shop until the cows come home with any pilots or career explorers he can find. And yes, Shiro is just as competitive as the stereotypical hotshot fighter jock, he's just better at hiding it. Until your character comes along??
- This would have to be a slow burn since he's so private, but I'd love to get him some CR with fellow survivors of Weird Shit (in his case, alien abduction, experimentation/body modification, forced combat)
- For negative CR, Shiro has a very strong moral code, so if your slightly (or severely) gray character is in need of a strong-willed Lawful Good type to clash with, he's your guy!

- Excellent supportive mentor/older brother figure, particularly good at inspirational if occasionally somewhat vague pep talks
- If you're too old to need a mentor, Reliable Youth You Can Count On
- Good to have at your side in a fight, or better yet planning a fight
- Can probably also help you with your gymnastics/tricking/parkour routines
- Purveyor of slightly morbid Dad jokes

▸ PLANS: I'm new both to this game and this kind of game structure in general, so I haven't made any concrete plans yet. But over the long term I'd like to get Shiro to a point where his self-worth isn't so strongly tied up in how useful he is to the Cause of Justice. Plus hilarious cross-canon shenanigans, of course.

▸ PERSONALITY: Cyberpunk far future government elite special forces soldier joined a rebel movement and levelled up to supersoldier only for them all to be killed and him to end up on ice for 250 years, then get bought as a really rich dude's pet private investigator. Kovacs is jaded, cynical, sarcastic, and altogether pretty much totally Done. He's also relentless to stupid extents in achieving whatever goal he puts his mind to, and cares way more about people than he ever likes to let on. Kovacs' mind is stored on a "cortical stack" implanted in his neck; the sleeve (body) he's in isn't his original. Characters should please feel free to note that his name doesn't match his face!
▸ DESIRED CR: Anything, man, I love both positive and negative CR! Kovacs will say he doesn't care but he needs friends to call him out on exactly that kind of bullshit. He usually gets attached to people through ribbing and butting heads, and is really drawn to people who maintain a optimistic baseline combined with a strong drive towards improving shit. He doesn't get on with power-hungry types, corruption or greed. Please also talk to him about evil siblings ty.
▸ OFFERED CR: Kovacs will actively be looking at "making a pack" (it's an envoy thing). He can possibly be a teacher/mentor type, the back up or the battering ram, the investigator and/or the jaded derisive remarks.
▸ PLANS: Totally new but this mission is pretty much going to be business as usual for him, so he'll be diving right in. Can definitely be available for guiding any types who need help with the setting or working covert, though you'll get a healthy side dish of skepticism that they're really going to be able to improve anything (pls prove him wrong).

▸ PERSONALITY: Catherine is an upbeat, optimistic person with a sassy sarcastic side who is sort of bossy and also strongly socially awkward and oblivious. A lot of people misread her as being manipulative or having unethical motives because of how dense she is, but in reality, what you see is what you get, and she's almost shockingly honest and up front. She's a generally composed lady who does not get riled up about things and is just not concerned about large existential questions and things that horrify pretty much everyone else.

▸ DESIRED CR: Catherine has a weird thing about thinking of herself as someone who no one wants to be friends with, and has an almost comical level of doubt that she ever could get one, so working on that would be great. She has some well-hidden social anxiety as a bodied human that plays into that, and people who can be not put off by how aggressively she pursues her goals and how clueless she is about emotions would be a good fit. She's a brain scan put in an android body (provided by Hathaway-- naturally she has no body) and CR concerning that is always fun. I hugely welcome and enjoy people thinking she's a total weirdo who has something 'off' about her because that's how she tends to read in canon, so I am also looking for some not-quite-straightforward sort of complex platonic CR.

▸ OFFERED CR: Anything robotics, AI, or more generally science related is an easy sell for her. If you need someone to drag your character around and get into shit, she is a great suspect. Catherine is a scientist and she often needs someone to do things for her and assist with larger goals, because her vision tends to be on a huge scale. ▸ PERSONALITY: here to have a good time. mischevious, spontaneous, nonsense-loving. a prankster that marches to the beat of her own drum. has a habit of getting in people's faces. that annoying little sister that won't stop asking until she gets what she wants. a heart of gold when it comes down to it... maybe? loves pastries, hamster-sized unicorns, a good romance novel ( or smut ). worships some god (???) no one's heard of before, but that's not concerning at all.
▸ DESIRED CR: as a newbie: anything and everything! fellow nonsense lovers, emoji teachers, "handsome people" to sigh dreamily at, grumpy ( or not grumpy, doesn't matter ) people to prank, people that will listen to her describing her lord and savior and best friend, the Traveler. i want it all.
▸ OFFERED CR: she'll go along with just about any idea. good, bad, complicated, things that will definitely result in her loss. she's not stupid and will know when she's being played, but she'll go along with it anyway! otherwise — a reluctant healer, prankster & instigator, the ray of sunshine in your life that you always needed. someone that will weedle into everyone's life, willing or otherwise. definitely not a human. someone for the responsible types to try and tone down.
▸ PLANS: she's going to have a wild time trying to go from ye olde magic lands to CYBERPUNK DYSTOPIA, which mostly involves trying not to get caught while she ogles every cool thing that passes her way. ( read: my plans are yolo and see how far that gets me, i don't have plans at all. )

▸ PERSONALITY: a space princess striving to do what's right and bring justice to a universe at war. she's full of hope and while she does act on the mature side there's still a youthfulness about her.
▸ DESIRED CR: friends and people who can ruffle her feathers. also characters who can challenge her. fellow diplomatic-types and/or royalty types to bond with and maybe make a bit of a think tank for the guild.
▸ OFFERED CR: if you want someone who's still full of hope whose ultimate goal is Peace and Happiness and Justice for everyone for your character to either bond with or get annoyed at, allura is your girl. she's also a good Big Sister type if we want to go for tropes.
▸ PLANS: for a diplomatic type allura still kind of sucks at being covert and technology that isn't altean is still a bit of a mystery to her. she's going to keep things at ground level during this mission, to try to bond with those suffering under the oppressive government and get to know their stories so she can build up on that to help make their world a better place.
