TL;FIRST IMPRESSIONS

It's been a month since the opening of the game, everyone's gotten to know eachother! Between what needs to be done, of course. That means it's time for some first impressions! This is pretty simple (it's just a tl;cr meme in disguise):

— Make a comment with your character's name in the title.
— Comment to people. Receive some words.
— Reply to your own comments with lots of words.
— Words, probably.

Loki's the chessmaster type, which, while something Kida will learn to respect tremendously in time, isn't something she completely grasps or is capable of herself. (See: spent the last for-fucking-ever in a cave!!!) He definitely has a better understanding of the sides of all this than she does, and she gets that, and it's frustrating to strive for something and not being sure what you're reaching for, while seeing others just get it. She's a proud person, but not too much to admit when she's out of her depth; the catch is that she might not realize that she is out of her depth until it happens. (See: prison.) Still, she's trying hard to better herself and keep up!

On a more personal level, he's easy to talk to (for the small amount of it they've done!) and cheerful, which are absolutely qualities she likes. She's not the best judge of character, but when the guy himself tells you he's a liar, well. She's not going to ignore it, even if she'd rather just cut to the chase. Kida's a leader/motivator, but in a situation like this, leading the charge is all she's good for; she needs people around her to keep her focused and tone her down. Loki will, for better or worse, probably become someone she goes to in the future when she needs a second opinion/fresh set of eyes....and/or get talked into doing something dumb.

When life gives you apples, keep a snake handy, yeah?

TLDR: Smart, capable, skilled--A+ would make friends with, if it weren't for the fact that there's SUPER SKETCH FIRE ALARMS going off at every turn...

i hope any of this made sense

For better or for worse, Kida is now aware that Riza is stable enough to act as an anchor, and will probably call on her in the future to fill that second-in-command/second opinion role. Kida's aware of her own nature enough to know she needs people around her to curb her a bit, especially in an environment that's 100% alien to her. Beyond that, though, Riza's skilled and competent, but without sacrificing compassion, and as a result that nets her a lot of respect.

Kida also recognizes a kindred spirit in Riza: Kida's more of a spitfire, but they're both no-nonsense, proactive people. She doesn't feel like Riza is thinking circles around her (not to denigrate her intelligence at all--more like, she's so far always felt like Riza was willing to level with her as an equal) nor that Riza is manipulating her. Basically, as far as Kida's concerned, they get each other, they make good partners, and it might set the stage for a deeper friendship later on.

These two just clicked! Pearl strikes her as lacking confidence, maybe a bit high-strung, but there's definitely a lot of tenderness beneath the polished veneer (haha, get it, she's a gem) that Kida appreciates. She feels like they have a lot in common: loss, feeling disconnected and out of place, defending what's precious. (And spears.)

People tend to think that being Old As Balls makes a heart cold and closed, but for Kida it's precisely the opposite: if anything, experience only makes her more open because she knows she can spring back from things easily. She's definitely sensed that same openness in Pearl, and as a result was more willing to hop into friendship...which will probably just make it smart more when she discovers Pearl's bffsies with Gil. :(b

tldr PEARL IS EXCELLENT PEOPLE, DON'T LET ANYONE SAY OTHERWISE.

Muneshige has so far given her the impression that he's a willing follower, which definitely isn't a bad thing! Kida needs people to go along with her harebrained schemes. Bonus points when they're smart and driven by results, which seems to be Muneshige's case. She's looking forward to working with him more: he's positive and upbeat, and as a consequence she finds him pretty charming.

He's not incapable of leading but when people like Kida make following this entertaining, he's all for seeing where they're headed!

Honestly? He made the most immediate, startling first impression of just about anyone she's met here. He knows Atlantis! He knows history! He's going to teach her a dead language. (Eventually.) He's kind, he's fun over a beer or fifteen, he's willing (presumably) to carry her to her room when she gets drunk (what a bro), she can tell he's genuinely compassionate: she feels understood by him, even if it's not 100%.

Essentially, she really likes him! And sure the whole tall, stony and red thing is kind of off-putting BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER. He's impressive, and his stony-faced demeanour is actually pretty likeable, given that it gives Kida free reign to do all the temperamental hotheaded thing for the both of them. She's not the type to shut people out, or to be dishonest about her emotions or intentions. If you think they'd have talked a bit over a glass, she'd definitely have opened up about herself more, her city and what it means to her. Sorry Hellboy, it's her favorite topic. :|b

She'll take him out for drinks eventually.

Hellboy has a bit of a liquor problem, so I am very certain they had enough time to talk a little more :'> He's very happy to listen! And get drinks. That too.

Kida likes Sakura but she hasn't seen her use her magic yet, so all she sees is a little girl. Sakura's sweet though, and Kida really wants to keep her safe--but she's also not terribly good at children, or at least, was a child herself a very long time ago, so she's a little out of touch. This is both good, because she's definitely more likely to assume strength than weakness, and bad, because she might become overly optimistic re: Sakura's capacity for dealing with things. Essentially, Pearl is not!mom, Kida is more like not!irresponsible fun-loving uncle...

Heh. Well, Sakura herself can be overly-optimistic in her abilities at times so that wouldn't really be anything. New. Sob. Sakura please stop running off after Clow Cards when you have a freaking fever.....one day she will surprise Kida with it and show she is worthy of said strength. Hopefully without it backfiring hilariously.

But, oh man, Kida as the Not!irresponsible fun-loving uncle is so accurate, haha.

You know, it's bad but it's not irredeemably bad........but it's close???

Like, she absolutely thinks he's a vile piece of trash, but then she basically saw his worst/grossest/creeper side first so HE CAN ONLY IMPROVE I GUESS

I think the fundamental thing is that Gilgamesh loses out on two fronts with Kida: she doesn't like him because of his own individual personality (HE HELD HER DOWN, SLICED HER FACE AND LICKED HER), and she doesn't like him because he desecrates the fond memory she has of his Epic, which is one of the very few surface-world myths she knows well and loves. Further down the line they'll probably also disagree about their values concerning kingship and what that entails, BUT FOR NOW her dislike is 'limited' (lol) to thinking he's a debased psychopath, so.

On the other hand: she respects his strength...because she has no choice, he could rip her head clean off her shoulders with a finger??? She can clearly see he cuts a hella figure. He's handsome as fuck. He speaks Atlantean. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Cue one million sassy side conversations no one else can understand.

negl I'm looking forward to their long meandering road to begrudging respect

In contrast to Sakura (because they're the same age THAT THREAD WAS TOO CUTE), Kida's definitely seen Sieglinde at work--and it was incredibly impressive. Not only is Sieglinde cool as a cucumber under pressure, she obviously knows her shit and works hard, even with her feet as they are. +1000 respect points, she'd carry Sieglinde anywhere! Admittedly, she probably didn't realize until after just how shocked she was that Sieglinde was this TINY CHILD, but she doesn't regret trusting her, and now Sieglinde will probably become a go-to when Kida needs a healer handy.
