koltira's kind of like a staple: simple and consistent. this sounds kind of funny because of the death knight thing, but generally koltira works in some predictable patterns, and even if they are destructive, loki's fairly comfortable because he knows what those patterns are. so, he sees koltira as less of an unpredictable danger and just someone who can't get out of an uncontrolled death-cycle. he's also absolutely not scared of him, even if he managed to get himself attacked.
it's funny because so many people have such Strong Feelings about koltira, while loki kind of watches them fuss about it and find ways to undermine him. being an unsavory character himself, loki's used to be both the one that deserves the blame and the brunt of everything to an excessive degree, and it's hard to find the line there. he knows that; he's been there. there's also the disir (the undead valkyrior that was exploited to no one's business), which, i quote, kid loki said: "they go to hell and i get a second chance. how is that fair?" he feels that way about koltira a lot.
mm, but also they've talked a lot about freedom, and there's a connection to their own deaths there, and dying as who they are that's struck a chord too. it's funny because koltira is so simple in some ways, where loki makes everything so over-complicated.
he's also not against totally using him if need be, sorry bro. he gets it, but also he's a dick.
